Our Story

History

Nurulz Artisan Scoop was founded by husband and wife, Rosdiadi Ramli and Nurul Hidayah Arshad in December of 2010 in Bukit Katil, Melaka.

How it started?

Rosdiadi was an engineer in a multinational company. After a couple of years, he had enough and didn't feel like doing it anymore and decided to go into business full time. Having 120% support from Nurul made him even more motivated. After a lot of research, readings and trial & error, he found that there is lack of muslim made product in everyday food production determined him to join in the food and beverage (F&B) sectors.

Why ICE CREAM?

The idea to start an ice cream business was when it was hard to find finest locally made ice cream that matches up to the super-premium standard and after they experienced doubt when eating other international brand ice cream (flavours that includes liquer and gelatin made using the same machine as other flavours), they decided to make their own ice cream. After a lot of trial and error and later on, the ice cream was accepted by their family, friend and public through pasar malam, they decided to go BIG and opened up a scoop shop. Besides, Nurul has always dream of opening a homemade ice cream and candy shop since her childhood. It was the opportunity to make it REAL!!!

Ice Cream Headaches


Have you ever experience ice cream headaches before? Sure you have.. the other name is BRAIN FREEZE. Usually happen when something very cold like ice cream or slurshies (like 7eleven's slurpee) are consumed quickly. 

Believe it or not, some people are immune to ice cream headaches or brain freeze. how lucky are they?very lucky. Unfortunately I'm not one of them. I will definitely get it everytime. Why and how to stop it? 

So i browsed through to find out how to cure or at least reduce the effect and found several ways that might help. 

The scientific name is sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgis – what a mouthful. When these items contact the nerves in the roof of your mouth, the nerves overreact and tell certain blood vessels in your head to become larger causing an increase in blood pressure in the head. (credit to Ice Cream Jurnal)

Although its harmless and usually goes away after 30 seconds.  but its too long rite? so here are few tips that might help you. 
  1. Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth 
  2. Drink warm liquids
  3. Hold your breath
  4. Breath in through your mouth and out through your nose
  5. Hold whatever gave you the headache against your forehead (this one doesn’t sound effective, but it would be funny to watch)
